Paul
Smith is Managing Director of CSR.
His career started at Unilever where he
spent 3 years working in Product development.
During
his time there he worked in project teams
that developed the technology to put stripes
in toothpaste.
In the early 80s he moved
within the Unilever group to work at what
is now known as Research International.
Among other things his expertise helped
to determine the ideal mix of vowels and
consonants to include in a family size
pack of Alpha bites!
He quickly progressed
to become Managing Director of RI's qualitative
company. He helped grow QRU (tripled turnover)
and was fortunate to be involved in the
creative development research for the Government's
ground breaking anti-drugs and AIDS awareness
advertising campaigns.
In 1989 he co founded
CSR Qualitative Research.
Paul lectures on the MRS Summer School
(introduction to qualitative research)
and Essentials of Qualitative research
(projective techniques and stimulus materials).
His
team also presents the Basic Moderating
Skills Course.
He lives in London with his wife, 3 children,
a dog and a cat. He plays 5-a-side football
to keep fit and is a life long supporter
of Hibs.
